Well, for a start I was born into a family of talkers. My father was a champion debater and won my mother's heart on the basis of his oratory skills.
He simply said to her," Are you married yet, Yet?"
35 years of teaching in the English classroom was the coal face from which I was hewn. But after 34 years as a Head of department, I was ready for different challenges.
Before I left teaching in the classroom, I introduced oral skills for reluctant speakers. It was very popular, mostly because they thought I was teaching sex, oral sex.
However, only affecting 15 to 30 students a year was not enough for me.

So, I left the security of the salary and the smell of teenagers in the classroom to swap for the insecurity of the corporate world and the smell of offices. And also the whiff of the classroom as the expert the king of confident communication.
Since then I have been building up a business in the corporate world, with small business, individuals, school teachers and students, focusing on training them to be better oral communicators.
Two articles about public speaking in Melbourne have been published in the Education Age and 3 public speaking books are on their way to being published. A DVD is in my head and some tapes too.
